2 June 2015, vesak public holiday in Indonesia, but doesn't mean a holiday for doctor. Today I have a social work with LK charity.
Being so free and jobless, I agreed LK charity's coordinator, Mr.Samsudin, to join in medical team for a free medical consultation and treatment on today. Early in the morning, around 7.15am, Mrs.Linda, who is the leader of LK charity, comes to pick me up with her Land cruiser. I'm like WOWWWW..... so this is what I get as doctor, a full pick up service. Remind me of a few years back when I was still a nedical student and I joined one of a social work like this, I needed to go there by myself *cry*.
We arrive at Tandam, a very small town close to Binjai city, about 30 minutes from Medan, around 8.00am ++. After the driver park the car, I see the surrounding and get to meet my other eight doctor friends. This LK group brings evelen doctors, includes us, eight fresh graduated doctor and two senior doctor that ride in the same car as mine, and a lot of dentists too. They held this social work at a public school and we use the classrooms as the examination places.
We do the endless examinations on patient from 8.30am until 12.00pm, get break in between until 1pm, and continue the service until 2pm. We examined about 400++ patients in total, so much lesser from the 1000 patients target.
After the tiring yet fun social work is ended, we get a participatian certificate and take some pictures. Actually the LK charity's officer takes an official picture in which he says will be posted on local newspaper, but I don't manage to ask the pictures from him. So, I just post some of our amateur pictures. Looking forward for another chance to do this social work again, are you interested in joining a social work too?
