Today, 29 June 2015, medical students and doctors hand in hand created a new trending topic in Indonesia. Hashtag #dokterinternsipindonesia hit the second most trending topic in Indonesia just after several hours from the due time to post the hashtag. One day before, some activists around Indonesia already spread the info to gather all doctors in Indonesia, especially those who will get into Internship programme, to post hashtag on social media, mainly twitter.
Around 12.00pm IDN time, thousands until millions comment were starting to be posted on different media, such as twitter, facebook, path, etc.
People might confused, why doctors were so free to do such a thing, why? So, the reason behind was to seek attention from our government, the ministry of health, and DPR for sure..to pay more thought on us, the certified medical doctors, the newly born doctors, who are ready to serve our community, but because of the unprofessional management and lack of funds from government, are postponed to get into internship programme.
It took six years to become a legally competence doctor in Indonesia. You need to take a national exit exam, which are called Ujian Kompetensi Dokter Indonesia (UKDI) to get a competency certificate. After all of that long way, you need to serve the nation for one year as an #internshipdoctor.
Yes, we are those doctors who wait for internship, and those who are jobless for about nine months, and those who are restricted from practicing in clinic, and those who are at the right age to earn money for our parents, yet we are now still asking money from our oldie just for a meal. Not to mention, the doctors' honor only paid per three months during the internship programme. And guess how much? Less than $250 (2,500,000 IDR).
There is a story. An internship doctor went to a coffeeshop to eat a meal, when the seller asked for payment, he said, I will pay three months later, I am #dokterinternsipindonesia. Salute to our government.
